The “Statue of the Lovers” in Puerto Montt, officially named “Sentados Frente al Mar” (Sitting in Front of the Sea), is a large sculpture depicting a couple looking out at the ocean. It’s inspired by a 1960s song, “Puerto Montt,” by the Uruguayan group Los Iracundos. The statue was inaugurated on February 14, 2002, and has become an iconic landmark of the city.
